Plant Identification
I was planning to do every week Wednesday at 11 until most plants and fungi are finished for the season. It might be helpful if people were willing to RSVP per session. that way we know how big the group is and we can break off into groups of 7-10 people so we don't bunch up too much on the trail. This first week we will meet at the Greenport Conservation Area, and we can decide next week where to do the following session.
Anyone planning to come next week might want to research the difference between monocots and dicots before Wednesday. There are a few key differences between these types of plants, and it is a helpful starting point for identification. Younger learners might start by observing leaves that are lobed, toothed, or simple. Try to find leaves with parallel veins and veins that are branching.
I will check in again before Wednesday to make sure we have an estimate for the number of people.
